Langkawi

I spent the past few days in Langkawi, with the in-laws. It was so much fun, albeit a little short for us, since hubby had to be back in the office.

The only time I've been on a holiday with all the in-laws was our trip to the South of Spain back in 2009. I find that traveling can really show one's true colors. I know some people shudder at the thought of spending time with their in-laws so I'm grateful that I can get along with mine.

We stayed at the Aseania, a 3-star resort. We booked the resort through RCI. Since it's our first time going through RCI, we were not quite sure what to expect.

We were given two suites. It was surprisingly large and comfortable to fit all the 12 of us - 7 adults and 5 children. I say surprised because based on the reviews we read online were not too encouraging.

The pool was the best feature of the hotel. It's huge enough that you don't feel crowded especially considering it's the school holidays. With 3 slides at the pool, the children especially, had a blast during the stay.

Hubby and I flew in around noon. It was a bonus for us that FireFly added extra flights for the school holidays. I'd hate to have to travel to KLIA/LCCT.

We didn't book a car rental in advance because you could get decent rates at the airport/jetty.

After picking up the car we took a drive since the rest of the family will be arriving later in the evening, and we would only be checking in around 2 pm.

We found a van that sold northern food for cheap. The food is pretty good, they serve laksa, bihun sup, rojak buah, kuey teow and cendol pulut.  The van is parked by the sea so there was a lovely breeze. They kept the place quite clean so it doesn't make you cringe worrying about hygiene.

The greenfield you see in the photo is the runway for airplanes. This is just so you can have an idea where you can find this van, as I have no address for this place.

I forgot to bring a camera, hence, the lack of photos for this entry.

Hubby and I haven't really had the chance to discover Malaysia. It's a shame, really. Especially when we meet foreigners who rave about the exotic places in the country. But we have started making the effort to visit more places. We'll definitely come to Langkawi again.
